About Us

It takes a small village to produce and deliver Coffee News each week. Here are our stories:

Little Bill

"Little Bill" is our Coffee News Mascot. He travels around the world as the CN Guy.

In other places he operates under various alias, including: "Little Pete", "Wally", "Guy", as in "CN Guy," "Bob" and "Coffee Bob", "Joe" as in a "Cup of Joe," and, suspiciously as just "The Coffee News Man." His girlfriend, seen only at Business Expo in Shelton and Business Showcase in Lacey, is "Irene." [Don't know why. We think she should be called "I lean."]

Michelle Grisel

Michelle brings much enthusiasm to her deliveries in Shelton. Prior to delivering Coffee News to restaurants there, she worked in several of them! Michelle is a 1984 graduate of Shelton High School. (She's just joined Coffee News in April 2006; we'll tell you more about her as we get to know her better!)

Meridan Pickett news@CoffeeNewsTM.com

Meridan writes the "What's Happening" departments in Coffee News each week and keeps the cogs of progress rolling in our post-press department, operating our folding and laminating machinery. He maintains our Morgue, and arranges distribution of tear sheets to our advertisers. In addition to all this, he is a full-time student at The Evergreen State College. He has been with Coffee News since August 2005.

Marcel Montemayor art@CoffeeNewsTM.com

Marcel designs ads and does page layout each week for our five Coffee News editions, and feeds our digital duplicator, which prints the papers. His other business interests include AddIt2ebay.com, a brokerage which helps local people to sell their items on eBay, and XtremeDesigner.com, his website design firm. A U.S. Army brat, he grew up mostly in Germany. He joined Coffee News in October 2005.

Danny Stusser danny@CoffeeNewsTM.com

Danny is owner and publisher of Coffee News Thurston Mason, which he started in December 2004. Prior to this for 20 years he was self-employed as a marketing consultant to telecommunications systems vendors and as an industry analyst and journalist. His inspiration is the guy who appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show, spinning plates on the tops of broomsticks.

Z.C. Stusser

Zeesie is responsible for selecting the winner of our Coffee News Contests each month. She opens the envelopes, sorts the papers, and picks winners for Mason and Thurston County contests. Now that we've taken the contest online, she will click-to-pick the winner from a random number generator. This is a part-time job for her; her main job is completing the 3rd Grade at an Olympia Elementary School.

Jen Templeton jen@CoffeeNewsTM.com

Jen keeps the books here and keeps her thumb on the pulse of the bank accounts. She is a military brat and a refugee of the June 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo, which forced the cancellation of her graduation ceremony from Wagner High School, a Department of Defense School at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. Jen began shoveling her way through our piles of paperwork in September 2005.

 Mark Thomas

Mark is well-known in Olympia and Tumwater for his three-wheel bike which he uses on his delivery routes and in his frequent touring. A proud father of two and grandfather of one, Mark is an expert but amateur landscaper. He is a 1984 graduate of North Thurston High School and has been delivering Coffee News since April 2005.

John Webster

John is a 1965 graduate of North Thurston High School and is known around Lacey as the #1 Fan of North Thurston's Rams. We've heard that if he's cut, he bleeds purple. When not watching Ram baseball, basketball or football games, he also delivers Coffee News to restaurants and motels in Lacey, Hoodsport, Union, Matlock and Kamilche and to state offices in Lacey. He has been part of our team since April 2005.
